Canadian Cancer Society – Here Comes the Sun
The Shabbat was wonderful. After stormy and rainy days, we got to see the sun in a part of its glory. After all, winter.
It started to get nice yesterday, but it was still cold, unlike today. Last night, I went out with friends. It wasn't just for Valentin, but to for Friday and also not to sit alone in the dark. We went to Tel Aviv, where we could find open restaurants and people celebrating, as opposed to the dormant town (known in Israel as 'city') where most of us live. There are no businesses open on Saturday because of the religious who sit in the municipality and impose their customs on the secular. But you can find a solution for everything. If you can't have a good time the place you live, you migrate to a normal city and contribute there to its economy.
There is a nice place for our community where only women our age are allowed to hang at. It took us a long time to find it, but eventually we succeeded. It was not easy, because the world probably belongs to young people, and we have no interest in cradle snatching, but prefer to spend time with women of our age. The music is great, to our taste and without the terrible noise of contemporary cacophony, there is a dance floor on which we can joyfully dance, the food is delicious and inexpensive, and the main thing – you can leisurely talk and hear each other. I don't come there often, but every time I got there, I always got to meet someone new, even more than one. Rumour has it that at our age we don't make new friendships – these are nonsense. It's a fact that we do. Actually, at this age I have more friends than I ever had in my life. Interesting, isn't it?
With the soft music in the background, we delved into an in-depth discussion of the efficacy of Valentine and other 'holidays' that in recent generations have been neutralized from their meaning and turned into money squeezers for merchants. "When I love someone, I tell her all the time and not just on supposedly 'special days.' It can't be that all year or most of it, because there are birthdays and the like, I won't say anything and only on certain days I will mention it to her just because it's customary."
My interlocutors agreed with me. At our age, we have many things in common. At our age, we no longer go to the barricades. I also try to surround myself with women who have a liberal worldview, contain and accept as I relate to myself. I'm no longer have patience for useless arguments about issues that I believe should exist in a well-managed country.
I sipped with satisfaction from the orange juice, exploring the presents in the place. There were some nice figures among them that I would love to meet. We all know that external appearance does not at all indicate inner beauty. At the same time, we are attracted to some women and not to others. This is something I could never explain to myself. I meet women, they look nice in an external glance, but as we start a conversation, I see the fall, the polarization between what they look like and what they really are inside. It amazes me every time anew. I could never guess in advance what I would discover in their internal, what they really are. Maybe I'm drawn to these at first glance? I have no idea.
Someone approached to our table. "Hello, women," she said sweetly, "perhaps someone wants to dance with me?" There was something attractive about her that as usual I couldn't explain. I was glad she addressed us with the title 'women' and not like those who insist on calling women our age 'girls', which annoys me very much. 'Too bad she didn't address me personally', I thought to myself. I prefer a personal invitation rather than a general one. Some of us got up and went with her. I followed them with my eyes. I figured she would choose on the dancefloor the one she wanted to dance with, and the rest would probably dance with each other.

"Don't you dance?" Someone asked behind me. I turned toward the voice. She sat at the table next to us, smiling at me.
"I dance, definitely. I love to dance," I replied, smiling too.
"So why didn't you go with them?" This is Israel, we're all curious and nosey, I'm used to.
"Why didn't you go with them?" I sent her a spike.
"She came to your table, not to mine," she winked at me.
By the way her table looked, she wasn't sitting alone. "Where are your friends?" I asked.
"You got me!" She announced. "They went dancing."
"With her, probably," I made an educated guess.
"You saw her, can one resist her charm?" She winked again and smiled.
"Indeed, she seems nice," I admitted, "but not to the point that I will follow her with the herd."
A Day in The Life – (by The Beatles; arr. Sam Haug, with orchestra)
In one sentence:
In the morning, we went to absorb the magic of the sea, the sun and the waves. The sand, under our bare feet, was warm.
