Noa Kageyama and Pen-Pen Chen – How to stay calm under pressure
We are on the verge, dawn is soon here and the question is whether it will indeed break forth. All the sane, the good, those who love the state and wanting its best, hope that it will happen and we will rise already for a new day of healing, patching the terrible rifts and splits in our society, and most importantly – peace and quiet, peace of action for the people and putting an end to evil that ruled too long in our lives.
Many times over the years I remembered the exemplary series "The West Wing" which I would watch eagerly and with great interest when it was aired. The truth is, I don't remember specific scenes from it, but the general atmosphere, its characteristic line: someone – sometimes the president himself, sometimes workers in the place or on behalf of the president – makes a mistake (flop) and then it has to be fixed, otherwise a scandal will break out, whether domestic or international. Each episode deals with a different problem and there are plenty of them – always someone messes up and does or says something inappropriate. I still remember being very annoyed by this need to fix instead of making sure things were run properly in the first place. I had to remind myself more than once that this was a script written by a screenwriter and stop getting upset. It was not easy, because it was made so superbly that things seemed tangible. And of course there were the two best British series – "Yes, Minister" and "Yes, Prime Minister", which it is impossible to cover excessively the praise I have for them. Watching these series was supposed to provide moments of relaxation, entertainment and release out of a feeling that this is not really happening and that those who lead us are supposed to act in our favour and not put out fires that are not really important.
Machiavelli said: "The prince must do everything that is beneficial to his government and his country, even in case of conflict with religious and ethical principles and in fact make a separation between morality and politics. A wise sovereign cannot and should not be careful to maintain fidelity when this strictness is detrimental to him, and when the reasons for which he gave his promise ceased to exist". He had a few more "pearls" like that that did not honoured politicians and the fact is (and not just because of him, of course) that most people think all politicians are liars, insidious and evil, who just want power, respect and money, while screwing us all. And there is the well-known saying attributed to the late Prime Minister, Levy Eshkol: "I promised, but I did not promise to keep what I promised."
We are in a hallucinatory period, in which values have no weight, in which every man does as he pleases, and everyone on their own. My late mother, a Holocaust survivor, used to say to me (what she said she learned from her mother and her mother learned from her mother): "There will come days when we will have to equip ourselves with candles to find in the dark people who are human beings". This was said before the Holocaust. She did not say beyond that, but I suppose she experienced it personally during the difficult and terrible period she went through. When the state was established, we did not expect to reach such defilement that we have experienced since the corrupt accused in crimes got to office, and led the country to failure after another. It is difficult for me and my alike to understand how, for example, people who declare themselves religious (i.e., they are "moral"), support such a corrupt. Incomprehensible other than the obvious conclusion that they themselves are such. And those are our leaders. Woe to us!
Since the mandate fell out of his hands, after he failed to form a government, the corrupt has done everything in his power to sabotage forming a government that he will not head. I need not to elaborate, we went through a very difficult period, including a war with the Gaza Strip, in an attempt to put out the fire that was ignited by that contemptible in order to leave behind him scorched earth, without success, to my delight. We're in the last line, I hope. In the last few months we have practiced a lot of patience and breathing and all sorts of soothing methods while keeping our eyes on the goal, and that is – to throw the corrupt to hell. I hope we succeed.
Usually, I have no problem with opposite opinions to mine. For me, as long as no one thinks that justice and absolute truth reside in him – let him enjoy it. I think my opinions are mostly suitable for me, and if there are others who think like me – excellent. This is not to say that I think my opinions are appropriate for everyone. I am happy to hear other opinions, even if these are completely opposite to mine; the main thing is that they respect others and do not call those who do not hold them by names that are not appropriate. Anyone who thinks that an Arab or Christian citizen in the Jewish state deserves equal conditions is called a "traitor" – this is unacceptable! Those who believes that all human beings should be equal in everything – both before the law, and in the conditions and resources that we all deserve – should not be harmed. Everyone should feel safe expressing their opinion without being harassed. It cannot be that Knesset Members who do not support the corrupt defendant accused of crimes, will be provided with security from the bullying Bibisits who threaten them and their families. It's weird!
As for the government that is forming, I very much hope that it will be established, although I have not prayed for such a government, certainly not for the one who is supposed to head it – a despicable, childish, stupid, submissive man, who until the last minute it is hard to believe to what he says – his devotee, he who waited on the corrupt accused of crimes who clung to his chair with devotion. It is difficult to understand how we got to this situation where such a person is even considered as the one who is supposed to lead us. A person with values, decent and honest, wise and reliable, would allow to whom that has more Knesset members behind him (Yair Lapid, which is also unworthy, to me, but that's what it is, with his 17 MPs of Yesh Atid party) than himself (with the 7 "Yamina" party MPs) to be the Prime Minister. If we are talking of a tiny party leader, then why not have a much more deserving woman than this despicable? I'm sure that Merav Michaeli with 7 Knesset Members of the Israeli Labor Party would have done a much better job than this kid who wants to play prime minister. At the same time, this is what there is and needs to be worked with. I certainly welcome the diversity of the parties that will form the next government (amen, may it be so!). Many idiots do not think that such a government will last, and I tell them that it depends solely on those who will serve in it, on their good will to act for the benefit of the people and the state, and not for themselves. I'm hoping for the best, though I'm not so optimistic
In conclusion:
It's not over until it's over. We are still practicing patience and perseverance.
