פסח בפאריז. מזג האויר קר, רק 0c16 ואני מרגישה לא משהו עם זה. כרגיל, מעדיפה את החמימות בארץ.
Passover in Paris. The weather is cold, only 160c and I'm not good with it. As usual, I prefer the warmth in Israel.
פעם היתה העיר הזו מופת ליצירת אמנות מעניינת מכל הסוגים. בבחרותי, חלמתי להגיע אליה ולהנות ממה שיש לה להציע. היו זמנים שחשבתי לעבור לגור למשך שנה בפאריז – הן כדי לחרוש את העיר והן כדי ללמוד את השפה המקסימה שתמיד היתה לי חולשה אליה. מאוד משך אותי לתור מקומות כמו הגדה השמאלית, מונמארטר, מוֹנְפַּרְנָאס ועוד, שתוארו בספרים הצרפתיים המתורגמים שקראתי בעברית. שמות כמו כנסיית סן ז'רמן דה פרה, מוזאון הלובר, מגדל אייפל (אבל בלי שום רצון לטפס עליו) הלהיבו את דמיוני. נשים שפעלו בעיר, כמו סימון דה בובואר, סימון סניורה, רומי שניידר ועוד מלא נשים מרשימות שהיו לי למודל ולמופת.
Once upon a time this city was a model of interesting art of all kinds. In my youth, I dreamed to come here and enjoy what it has to offer. There were times when I thought I would move to Paris for a year – both to explore the city and learn the charming language I always had a weakness for. I was very attracted to places such as the La Rive Gauche, Montmartre, Montparnasse, etc., described in the French translated books I read in Hebrew. Names like Abbaye de Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Musée du Louvre, Tour Eiffel (but with no desire to climb it) excited my imagination. Women who lived in the city, such as Simone de Beauvoir, Simone Signoret, Romy Schneider and other impressive women who were my role models and exemplary.

מזה מספר שנים שהעיר הזו התקפלה, מכונסת בתוך עצמה מפחד הטרור. מה שהתחיל כרצח יהודים בידי מוסלמים ארורים ולא קיבל מענה מתאים, הפך לרצח שאר האזרחים הלא מוסלמים. עיר הלומת טרור. לא הייתי בוחרת לבלות בה את הפסח אלמלא ההזדמנות לפגוש את ביאטריס פנים אל פנים.
For several years now, this city has been retreated, withdrawn into itself because of terror. What began as the murder of Jews by bloody Muslims and did not receive a proper response, became the murder of other non-Muslim citizens. A city stricken with terror. I would not have chosen to spend the Passover here were it not the opportunity to meet Beatrice face-to-face.

מקומות בהם נהגה ביאטריס לבלות נסגרו, בתי הקפה אינם הומים כמו בעבר, העיר איבדה את הקסם שלה. אין הרבה חשק להסתובב ברחובות, ודאי לא בלבוש מסורתי. החשש מפני השכנים המוסלמים מזכיר לי את מה שקרה ליהודים בזמן הנאצים. ביאטריס מתארת בכאב איך כילדה שיחקו כל הילדים בשכונה ביחד בלי שעיינו זה את זו, אלא להפך – עובדת היותם הוריהם מהגרים קֵרבה ביניהם. אני יכולה לדמיין איך פעם היה אחרת ועד כמה זה השתנה בצורה קיצונית לרעה.
Places where Béatrice used to hang out were closed, the cafés are not as crowded as before, the city had lost its charm. There is not much desire to walk around the streets, certainly not in traditional garb. The fear of the Muslim neighbours reminds me of what happened to the Jews during the Nazis time. Béatrice describes painfully how as a child, all the children in the neighbourhood played together without looking in hostile at each other, but on the contrary – the fact that their parents were immigrants brought them close to each other. I can imagine how different it was once and how drastically changed.
אני שמחה שאני רק תיירת פה ואיני צריכה לחיות במקום הזה. הטרור בישראל יותר נוח, נראה לי. ישראל היא ביתי, ארצי, מולדתי.
I'm glad that I'm just a tourist here and I don't have to live in this place. To me, terrorism in Israel seems more convenient. Israel is me home, my country, my homeland.
